SSEN Transmission has an opportunity for a Site Supervisor (Electrical), experienced in the principles of construction and commissioning of major transmission substations.
The Site Supervisor will play a vital role in the project team delivering the 400kV Emmock Substation Project just north of Dundee. This is a site-based role and when the construction phase starts the expectation is that you will be on site 5 days a week.
The Site Supervisor will ensure that suppliers carry out works in accordance with SSEN processes, procedures and the contracted Works Information.
The project is key to our plans to deliver a Network for Net Zero.
You will
- Represent the business during the construction phase of projects ensuring the suppliers carry out works in accordance with contractual requirements and SSEN policies and procedures.
- Be measuring completed works against the works information for payment purposes and management of compensation events. Monitor and record key deliverables including earthworks, civils construction, building construction, air-insulated switchgear installation, transformer installation, earthing, building supplies, gas-insulated switchgear and busbar installation and commissioning activities.
- Ensure the project is executed in accordance with relevant requirements, particularly relating to statutory and legal obligations, health and safety, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, quality & technical compliance, personnel and industrial relations.
- Work closely with the appointed contractor(s) and the Operations team to ensure the works are delivered to the project programme, in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
- Act as a leader on site and champion for a positive safety culture. Ensure site activities comply with planning consents and SHE legislation, and ensure that the Contractor is providing sufficiently detailed weekly reporting as part of the project deliverables including records associated to the safety, quality and testing on site such as ITPs, KPIs etc.
A working engineering and construction knowledge including the safety and CDM regulations.
- Experience in site supervision or construction at duty holder level of similarly complex works in construction or utilities. Experience in construction access works would also be beneficial.
- An understanding of project planning and in particular tracking progress against agreed plans along with working knowledge of quality requirements and experience in monitoring inspection and test plans.
- Familiarity with computer systems and ideally with the ability to use common software such as Microsoft Office packages.
- Good written and oral communication skills, including the capability of representing the project internally and externally.
