We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the team at HMP Altcourse, a busy Category B male prison in Fazakarley, Liverpool.
This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care. This role offers excellent developmental opportunities and is a great environment to build on your experience and gain new skills!
This role sits within our Primary Care team, where no 2 days are ever the same! You will work across inpatients, respond to codes, help patients on the wings and more!
Hours: This is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week, working a variety of shifts between Monday and Sunday.
Salary: This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary of £24,669 - £28,690 per annum - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:
* Be involved in the implementation of clinical care packages, phlebotomy and assessment, treatment and the evaluation of patients care - this includes venepuncture and tissue viability.
* This role will support the Primary Care Nursing team with all aspects of care.
* You will primarily be working within the primary care team, although may be required to carry out duties in the substance misuse or mental health teams.
* You will support the registered nurse in association with the patient and in accordance with instructions and training received whilst promoting safe patient care and be willing to develop and apply new skills to maintain and enhance clinical service delivery.

Our new Healthcare Assistant will:
* Hold a NVQ Level 2/3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or equivalent
* Have experience within phlebotomy - this is highly desirable!
* Have experience in a clinical care setting previously - ideally from a hospital or prison setting
* Have clinical experience - venepuncture, tissue viability etc.
* Have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach
