We are looking for a Senior Project Manager construction professional with extensive experience of NHS capital and construction management, to lead the delivery on multiple projects which have a starting threshold of £50k and can range above £5m. Over recent years the team have successfully delivered a range of capital schemes which include the Cambridge Movement Surgical Hub, Cambridge Infusion Centre, provision of new ward blocks, new operating theatres, ward refurbishments and scanner replacements. An expert facilitator, you will manage the capital project process from inception through to completion. You will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of project delivery within the complex acute healthcare sector in relation to development of construction projects, co-ordinate design programmes & tender processes and be able to develop and maintain working relationships with key stakeholders. You will recognise that all projects we deliver ultimately impact our patients, therefore care and attention to detail is paramount to ensure health and safety standards are maintained throughout the project lifecycle. This role requires you to have been involved in construction projects within a healthcare setting, demonstration of this on your application form is essential. Main duties of the job Procuring consultants, suppliers and building contractors and be used to managing these different external teams throughout the project life cycle. Responsible for leading design reviews and have a good working knowledge of the different stakeholders that need to be involved in order to deliver a capital scheme. Ensure that all designs and tender documents produced for a capital scheme meet the required standards. Develop designs for capital schemes in liaison with Trust stakeholders (external and internal), ensuring the schemes reflect up to date clinical practices and a patient centred approach. Ensure scheme specific information such as room data sheets, project plans and equipment is developed and evaluated. Chair project meetings ensuring that developed schemes meet client and stakeholder requirements, are compliant and can be delivered efficiently and best planned to minimise disruption to Services. To ensure that internal clients & stakeholders are kept fully communicated on project progress and any issues that arise. Prepare reports summarising status on issues, appraising outcomes and providing regular progress reports. Responsible for the production of pre tender estimates, cost plans and tender reports. Select suppliers and contractors through the evaluation of services offered, obtaining quotations and formulation of tenders. Responsible for robust financial management of your allocated capital project, demonstrating financial control. Person Specification Qualifications Essential • First degree or equivalent qualification. • Post graduate certificate or evidence of CPD in highly specialised project management i.e Prince2. Desirable • Record of continuous development. Experience Essential • Demonstrable experience of working within the NHS or health sector in a project management related capacity. • Experience of NHS capital and construction project management in a large complex acute hospital/organisation. • Experience of effective implementation of complex multidisciplinary estates related projects. • Experience of procuring construction and refurbishment. • Experience of procuring consultants and suppliers. • Experience of managing external building contractors. • Demonstrable management of external advisory consultants as part of a project team. • Evidenced portfolio of previous capital project work with proven record. Desirable • Experience of managing external building contractors within a healthcare environment. • Knowledge of building contract documentation and procurement routes. Knowledge Essential • An evidenced understanding of the use of clinical output specifications and function contents required for acute hospital planning. • Awareness of the application of Health Technical Memorandum & Health Building Notes within a healthcare environment. • A robust and evidenced understanding of the NHS Estates Capital Investment Manual with a particular focus on Project Organisation, Management of Construction Projects, Commissioning a Health Care Facility. Desirable • Understanding of clinical relationships and adjacencies within a hospital facility with demonstration of recognised significance of support services, patient experience, consumerism and stakeholder (including patient) consultation.
