West Herts NHS Trust is recruiting for a fixed term, 12 months, full time Post CCST Clinical Fellow in Hip and Knee Arthroplasty.
Applications are welcomed from suitably qualified surgeons seeking advanced training in Hip and Knee arthroplasty, including revision procedures.
The role is aimed at individuals who have completed their core orthopaedic training, passed the FRCS(T& O) or equivalent, and are approaching or have achieved CCT, and wish to develop further expertise in arthroplasty prior to pursuing a consultant role.
The successful candidate will gain experience and training in all areas of lower limb arthroplasty, including complex primary reconstruction, rheumatoid surgery, arthroplasty navigation, and all aspects of hip and knee revision surgery. There will also be opportunities to participate in research.
Main duties of the job
1. Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of patients undergoing Orthopaedic treatment.
2. To share with colleagues responsibility for the day-to-day management of the patients under the care of Trauma and Orthopaedics.
3. Teaching and training of resident staff.
4. To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
5. To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing professional development (CPD).
6. The post holder is required to understand their responsibilities in relation to junior clinical staff, in particular the duty to provide adequate clinical supervision to doctors in training and non-consultant career grade doctors in their clinical team.
7. The appointee will be expected to cover for colleagues' absence from duty on the basis of mutually agreed arrangements with the department and with the employing Trust.
8. Independent Operating and clinic arrangements will be worked flexibly to fit in with spare operating capacity. It is envisaged that at least 4 independent operating sessions would be worked per week to fit in with consultant annual leave and trauma week commitments which free up elective operating capacity within the directorate.
