The Children with Disabilities Service are recruiting for a permanent part-time Short Breaks Consultant.

Our Short Breaks Hub is a vital service dedicated to providing exceptional support to children and their families. We work with our partners to ensure that our children can enjoy enriching activities, develop independence, and connect with peers, while families receive much-needed respite.

The Post Holder’s Responsibilities Will Include:
1. Leading the Short Break Hub, ensuring that we are providing a consistently high standard of support for our children and families, delivering strong outcomes and ensuring that our children have the right practitioner allocated to deliver their plan.
2. Overseeing and Supporting Assessments, which are undertaken by the Family Practitioners to ensure that they build on strengths, are child-centred and inform comprehensive Short Breaks Plans, ensuring the best outcomes for children.
3. Supervision and Guidance, to our Family Practitioners which is reflective and ensures that our children’s plans are aligned to their needs and progressing.
4. Partnership Working, with our partners in the community, commissioning, health and education to ensure that the right support is in place.
You will need to have:
* Be Social Work Qualified and registered with Social Work England; and willingness and ability to obtain and/or enhance qualifications and training for development in this post.
* Able to demonstrate substantial experience of front-line social work practice including in-depth working experience with children and families and those who have a disability.
* Proven experience of working effectively with children, young people and their families who are assessed as having very complex needs.
* Have extensive experience in multi-agency and partnership working and the development of a service.
* Have proven ability to mentor and support social workers and able to develop and maintain positive working relationships with peers, supervisees and managers.
