We are excited to have developed this new role in Child Family Health Devon for an experienced Cognitive Behaviour Therapist to join us in North Devon as an 8a Senior Cognitive Behaviour Therapist.

This newly developed role will bring strong evidence-based CBT interventions into North Devon's multi-disciplinary service as well as developing and sustaining the CBT provision across the county, providing professional leadership for our growing group of CBT Practitioners.
We would love to hear from experienced CBT colleagues who can bring advanced level clinical thinking and formulation, strengths in supervision and consultation and be a compassionate leader within the service during an exciting time of development.
The post can be full time. We are also able to consider part time.
Main duties of the job
As a Senior Cognitive Behaviour Therapist you will work closely with the Leads for Psychological Professions to support and sustain the CBT Profession within CFHD as well as provide lead contributions to service developments across the service.
You will bring advanced clinical skills to offer complex assessment, formulation, intervention and consultation. You will bring strong clinical supervision skills and leadership capabilities that enable you to support colleagues as well as lead strategic development work. You will have proven experience working positively with inter-agency colleagues. You will have a vision for high quality clinical services and be able to enhance the skills and practice of those around you.
There will be CPD opportunities specific to your pathway and to further progress your leadership capabilities.
You will work closely with, and be supported by the Leads for Psychological Professions as well as your peer Professional Leads and Senior Clinical colleagues.
There is an enthusiastic group of CBT Practitioners across the county who will value the developments and cohesion that a professional lead will bring. We have a strong relationship with the local CYP IAPT Training course for CBT and support Trainee roles and Supervisor training across the county.

In the Managing Mood, Emotions and Relationships Pathway, CBT Practitioners work within a strong multi-disciplinary team, providing assessments and therapy to children with complex and enduring mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety-based disorders and Trauma. The multi-disciplinary teams are diverse including; Systemic Psychotherapists, Clinical Psychologists, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists, Child & Adolescent Psychotherapists, Psychiatrists, Speech and Language Therapists and Mental Health Practitioners from a range of backgrounds including Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work and Creative Therapies. This offers the opportunity for rich and nourishing shared clinical thinking and support.
You will be an accredited Cognitive Behaviour Therapist with notable post-qualifying experience, passion and strengths for working with children, young people and their families. You will have strong leadership skills, bringing a compassionate framework to your work.
In post, you would work with children, young people and families to understand their experiences and presenting concerns in order to provide an appropriate evidence-based intervention. You would provide consultation to multi-disciplinary colleagues and work closely with inter-agency partners as required.
You would provide supervision to Cognitive Behaviour Therapists and other colleagues as appropriate as well as further support the development of others through training. There will also be the opportunity to engage with, and lead, areas of service development and research as well as wider activities to support developing leadership skills.
You will be committed to service user participation and collaborative working with children, young people, parents, carers and families. You will have a good understanding of safeguarding across the lifespan.
You will be a reflective practitioner with strengths to bring to a multi-disciplinary team. You will have advanced skills and knowledge to support the development of others through supervision, consultation and training.
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers, including using goal-based care and routine outcome measures in practice.
* Experience of working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team and across agencies.
* Experience of working with a wide variety of child mental health problems, across the whole age range, reflecting all levels of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems and verbal abuse.
* Experience of undertaking specialist mental health assessment and therapeutic interventions for children and young people with highly complex mental health problems; including risk assessments.
* Experience in providing effective clinical supervision, teaching, training and assessing in clinical practice.
Qualifications
* Postgraduate Diploma qualification in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy e.g. recognised qualification as a high intensity IAPT Therapist.
* Fully accredited member of the BABCP.
* Post qualification specialist therapy/assessment training relevant to children and young people. Evidence of continuing professional development in cognitive behavioural psychotherapy.
* Post qualification training or proven equivalent experience in supervision. Formal training and experience in the supervision of other CBT therapists.
* Masters in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Understanding of relevant legislation pertaining to child and adolescent mental health.
* High level knowledge of mental health presentations in children and adolescents and the theory and practice of short term and long term, evidence-based, clinical interventions.
* Knowledge of child development.
* Highly developed ability to integrate highly complex clinical information into a coherent formulation and share this with others including service users and professionals.
