An excellent opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced Healthcare Support Worker to join the Wound Clinic Service. The applicant must be confident and competent in a wide range of clinical skills. There is a requirement for a flexible approach to work and for the ability to travel between sites in a timely manner. The applicant will hold Level 3 NVQ/QSF in a health care associated certificate or possess skills, knowledge and experience to equivalent level, and be prepared to commit to begin this qualification within 3 months of commencing in the role. The post is based with the Wound Clinic Service, which has clinic sites located across all localities within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. This particular role is predominantly based within the Merthyr, Cynon, Rhondda and Taff Ely areas of the Health Board, where there are 4 clinic sites - Ysbyty Cwm Cynon, Keir Hardie Health Park, Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda and Dewi Sant. The post holder will be expected to travel between these sites as required and possibly, depending on the needs of the service be requested to attend other clinics within other areas of the health board. The post is 30 hours worked over 4 days between the hours of 9am-5pm between Monday and Friday., The successful post holder will work within standard operating procedures as a member of the Wound Clinic Service, under the direction and supervision of the Wound Clinic Lead Nurse and the Wound Clinic Team Lead. The post holder will contribute to the implementation of nursing care as assessed and prescribed by the Registered Nurse. This will include carrying out an array of wound care treatments appropriate to level, including compression bandaging, leg ulcer care, diabetic foot ulcers, post operative wound care, and supporting the qualified nurse with further specialist assessments/treatments. The post holder will be required to report any deterioration and improvement, concerns or incidents to the lead nurse. The post holder will work alongside the multi-disciplinary and multi-agency arena and the Primary Health Care Team. The post holder will be required to undertake clerical activities as delegated by the Lead Nurse and the Team Leader, supporting with patient appointment activities, referral process, contacting patients/health care professionals via telephone to aid with their treatment. The post holder will also contribute to the maintenance of medical and surgical stock levels adhering to the agreed minimum and maximum stock levels required for the Wound Clinic Service.
