We are seeking an experienced hospitality team member with a background in exceptional food and barista service to join our team in Glasgow city Centre. You will work at one of our highly prestigious sites, located in the heart of the city, with a breakfast, lunch and evening events. This operates predominately Monday to Friday with occasional weekend work.
As a Team Member, your responsibilities will include:
* Preparing and serving a wide range of coffee beverages, including espresso, cappuccinos, lattes, and macchiatos, according to established recipes and standards.
* Grinding coffee beans, tampering the grounds, and operating espresso machines to extract quality shots of espresso.
* Steaming and texturing milk to create silky-smooth foam for latte art and consistent milk-based beverages.
* Providing exceptional customer service by greeting customers, taking orders, and answering questions about coffee, ingredients, and menu items.
* Recommendating and upselling additional products, such as pastries or specialty coffee blends, to enhance the customer experience.
* Maintaining a clean and organized work area, including brewing equipment, countertops, and display cases.
* Restocking supplies and ensuring that inventory levels are sufficient for daily operations.
* Following health and safety guidelines and maintaining proper food handling and sanitation standards.
* Handling cash and operating the cash register accurately for transactions.
* Staying updated on new coffee trends, brewing techniques, and industry developments to provide the best possible service to customers.
* Attending all location management meetings as required.
* Taking responsibility for contributing towards your own development with the guidance of the Hospitality Manager / General Manager and attending training courses as identified.
* Attending to any reasonable request made by the client or BaxterStorey Management.
* Providing friendly and professional customer service to clients and guests, ensuring their needs are met and their expectations are exceeded.
* Assisting with the setup and arrangement of event venues, including tables, chairs, decorations, and other equipment, as per the client's requirements.
* Helping with the preparation, presentation, and service of food and beverages during meeting/events, ensuring high-quality standards are maintained.
* Working closely with the catering team to coordinate meeting/event logistics, ensuring all aspects of the catering service are executed smoothly and efficiently.
* Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in the food preparation and service areas, adhering to health and safety regulations.
* Assisting with inventory control, including monitoring stock levels, replenishing supplies, and reporting any discrepancies or shortages.
* Responding promptly and courteously to guest inquiries, requests, and concerns, providing necessary information and resolving issues in a professional manner.
* Collaborating effectively with the catering team, kitchen staff, and other departments to ensure seamless coordination and delivery of services.
* Assisting with post-meeting/event cleanup tasks, including the removal of waste, packing equipment, and returning the venue to its original state.
You will ideally have experience working within contract catering, good health and safety knowledge, a flexible attitude, and excellent organisation skills. You will be a team player who enjoys succeeding as a team, possesses great customer service skills, and has a flexible approach to work.
