Children Looked After (CLA) is a great place to be a social worker. This is demonstrated in the Outstanding Ofsted grading received in 2023! The Sheffield CLA service has a consistent staff team however, due to structure changes, we are looking for qualified and registered social workers who are dynamic and committed to achieving the best outcomes for care experienced children and young people. Within CLA, the case load is diverse and there is never a dull moment. We work with a variety of young people with different plans for their future, this includes adoption, foster care, residential homes, living with parents, Reg 24 carers etc.
With manageable caseloads, social workers in CLA have the ability to work with young people long term to build meaningful and trusting relationships, remaining with young people through highs and lows. Overall, CLA offers diverse learning experiences for social workers. It encompasses a multitude of different assessment and direct work skills which supports social workers to build on their professional development in a supportive work environment.
The young people we work with are often varied in terms of history, care plans and identity, which offers social workers a broad range of day-to-day experiences, which are both challenging and exciting.
