Job Summary
Cargilfield School is looking for someone to join their maintenance team on either a part-time or full-time basis to maintain the School buildings and equipment to the highest standards possible throughout the year. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude and be capable of handling various maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities
1. Carry out general building and joinery tasks (installing shelves & cupboards etc…);
2. Carry out basic plumbing tasks;
3. Undertake basic glass repairs;
4. Manage the central heating systems and report any failures to the Facilities Manager;
5. Ensure that pedestrian traffic routes around the School (pavements, corridors, classroom floors and stairways etc…) are free from trip hazards and kept clear at all times;
6. Repair any damaged or loose handrails;
7. Replace emergency lights and light bulbs as necessary;
8. Carry out any gardening tasks or assist in preparing the pitches or grounds as required;
9. Liaise with the Facilities Manager to ensure compliance with the General Risk Assessment, Fire Risk Management Plan, Water Risk Management Plan and Legionella Risk Management Plan;
10. Assist with the preparation of rooms and the moving of furniture and equipment as required;
11. Clear the gutters annually (normally during the October break);
12. Maintain & treat timber fencing and gates (annually);
13. Maintain & treat wooden benches (annually);
14. Paint and decorate areas within the School as agreed in advance with the Facilities Manager;
15. Drive one of the School minibuses as required;
16. Clean, re-fuel and maintain School vehicles as required;
17. Report any maintenance concerns to the Facilities Manager;
18. Maintain and clean all equipment on a regular basis and store safely;
19. Ensure that all maintenance tools and substances are stored appropriately and flammable substances are stored away from heat sources;
20. Be aware of all Health and Safety issues affecting the Maintenance e.g. risk assessments, COSHH regulations, personal and protective clothing, provision and use of work equipment, stores and storage, lifting operations etc;
21. Be aware of any potential security issues;
22. Any other reasonable request from the Facilities Manager, Bursar or Headmaster.
