Applications are invited for a post funded by Mersey Care NHS Trust based in the Ashworth Research Centre in Ashworth High Secure Hospital to conduct research fitting with the aims of the service. The topics are broad and include mental health research, aggression research, drug trials and treatment evaluations. The post is fixed term for 12 months. The successful candidate will be expected to liaise across departments and assist with the administration of self-report measures, collect collateral data, assist with the writing up of research proposals and submissions and communicate results.
Although the post holder will be an employee of the University of Central Lancashire, they will be based at Ashworth High Secure Hospital (Parkbourn, Maghull). The principal project lead, a Forensic Psychologist, Chartered Psychologist, will provide research support and supervision.
Applicants should have a degree in psychology (2:1 or above) or equivalent, in a relevant area and an MSc/MA. in research, forensic or mental health discipline. In addition, they should have experience of undertaking qualitative and/or quantitative research studies, experience of working in forensic and/or mental health settings/research, and experience in data handling, including interpretation and use of analysis software packages.
