We are recruiting a Team Leader to join our new residential children’s home in South-East Cornwall. We are a social enterprise that provides caring, bespoke residential homes for children aged 10 -16 upon admission who have had a difficult start to life. You will join a team of compassionate, child-focused adults whose mission is to give our children and young people the best experiences. You will also be supported as part of a bigger team with our integrated services, including our clinical and education colleagues. We specialise in trauma-informed care, following our therapeutic model to help their lives. You will need to have experience in shift leading and working with children in a residential setting; you will support our residential support staff by offering regular supervision and supporting key working with our children. You will need to be good at communicating, leading and mentoring others, working as part of a team, and being able to make good decisions when under pressure. We are looking for people who want to make a difference in children’s lives and are patient and resilient when times are challenging. As a Team Leader, you will be involved in events and activities including: • Kayaking, rock climbing, swimming, skating, arts and crafts, beach adventures and walks in the forest, movie nights, and even camping in the back garden. • Shift leading – this includes providing in-the-moment support and a safe and emotionally contained environment in the home. • Contributing to the upkeep of care plans, risk assessments and other statutory documentation. • Being a role model guiding and supporting our children to make good choices. • Cleaning, cooking meals, maintaining the home, and learning new skills like nutritional meal planning, first aid, Health & Safety, and gardening: the list is endless. • Developing your professional career as a children’s support worker through the Level 4 apprenticeship in residential childcare • Clear career pathways for your future development – including opportunities to progress towards Level 5: Leadership and Management in residential childcare. You will need to have good written, verbal, and IT communication skills, know how to have fun, understand the importance of play to children, and have your Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Children and Young People’s Workforce or equivalent. We will support you to achieve your Level 5 Qualifications. Ideally, you will have a full driving licence and be over 19.
