NHS Professionals are currently recruiting for Sleep Physiologists to join the Adult Sleep Service at University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust FT. The role requires the successful candidate to support the provision of the Adult Sleep Service and assist in the care of patients attending the unit for diagnostic sleep testing.
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to work as part of the Adult Sleep Team in the provision and support of adult patients on long-term CPAP therapy, within outpatient and inpatient settings.
The service operates Monday to Friday and the ideal candidate will be able to work full-time.

Job responsibilities
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
* Support the Senior Sleep Physiology Team and Consultants in delivering an efficient service for CPAP patients including inpatients and outpatients, and their families.
* Undertake and document results of basic observations including blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, height, and weight.
* Prepare, download and issue outpatient sleep studies to patients, such as overnight oximetry and cardiorespiratory sleep studies.
* Initiate patients on CPAP treatment within outpatient and inpatient settings, selecting the required equipment and adjusting settings, in line with department protocols.
* Support the ongoing monitoring of non-complex patients on long-term CPAP therapy, by providing basic follow-up appointments and escalating complex scenarios to senior staff, in line with local protocols.
* Remotely monitor patients' adherence and progress with CPAP therapy, resolving minor issues independently and escalating complex matters to the Lead Sleep Physiologist.
* Support the drop-in clinics and prepare equipment/supplies to be collected and delivered to patients.
* Assist the Senior Sleep Physiology team in Arterial and Capillary Blood Gas sampling, by taking the blood sample to the blood-gas analyser.

* Must have Qualifications/Experience:
* Hold appropriate registration with the General Medical Council.
