The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of automotive emissions, simulation tools, and regulatory compliance requirements. The role involves developing and applying simulation models to analyse, predict, and optimize gasoline engine emissions, ensuring compliance with environmental standards and improving engine performance.
This role is responsible for designing and developing Propulsion systems and capabilities in the system engineering function layer at the logical and physical solution domain. You will be responsible for building and owning the generic system artifacts for new and existing powertrain propulsion concepts, capabilities and features in the (xHEV Diesel/Gasoline) space ensuring they are legally compliant, meets customer attributes expectations and are competitive in the market.
Some of these artifacts are (but not limited to) customer requirements mapping, feature/capability definition, Use case analysis, Logical architecture diagram, Functional Failure Analysis, generic functional requirements cascade, test case mapping, target generation and issue resolution for Powerpacks.
You will be subject matter expert for the physical base solution within the Core system - Aftertreatment and GasPath in Diesel and Gasoline applications.
Special requirements for this role are a good knowledge and experience in ICE PTs and transmissions with couple mid/high voltage electrification systems (MHEV/PHEV), torque, electrical and thermal energy management, AND aftertreatment system and Gas-path, pollutant emissions and requirements in different markets, with understanding on strategy development, calibration and controls.
Emissions Subject Matter Expert - Principal Engineer - (2 Positions, 1 for each Diesel & Gasoline)

Design and size integrated PT propulsion systems, control Strategy/SFW concepts
Develop the businesses physical base solution system engineering and knowledge in - Aftertreatment and GasPath in Diesel and Gasoline applications.
System artifacts (MBSE models, use case analysis, LAD, FFA/DFMEA/DRBFM, DVP, requirements, standards) developed off-cycle and updated on-cycle as required.
Ensure functions adherence to the use of specified engineering methods, computer tools and aids applied
Support indirect team members understanding of the function with your expert knowledge.
Lead the analysis of complex data from CAE and physical test properties.
Support the design & development of Propulsion System.
Support the continual development of tools and techniques which enhance capability, improve quality and robustness of Virtual models.
Conduct the design analysis and development with utmost quality within agile framework

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field
~Relevant experience of working in a Systems Engineering environment - ideally within the Automotive Sector
~ Expertise in Propulsion/Powertrain Engineering in: Emissions-After-treatment/Gas-path and knowledge on in Base engines, 48V Systems/Batteries, Torque and Energy Arbitration.
~ Relevant experience of system definition, system architecture development, requirements specification, design/performance modelling, systems integration, system assessment and acceptance
~ Experience in applying Systems Engineering and in solving complex technical issues using a structured approach
~ Relevant experience in development of electrified propulsion system as MHEV, PHEV and/or BEV.
~ Experience in model base system engineering and/or any tool for Systems Architecting.
~ Capable of complex data analytics from CAE and physical testing, mathematical projection, estimation, walk generation. (complexes excel macro/database, Matlab, MDA, Concerto)
~ Good understanding of 8D issue resolution and data statistics 6 sigma methods.
~ Familiarity with Product Creation Development System [PCDS] which could be delivered via Agile Groups / Squads.
~ Significant knowledge of engineering planning and delivery processes
Expert experience in the specific area of: Emissions, After-treatment, Gas-path, Base engines, HV Systems, Torque and Energy Arbitration.
