Position Position: Full time (35hr per week) Location: Gatwick / Hybrid We have an exciting opportunity for a Front-End Developer to join our Digital Operations team. As a key member of our Design & UX team, collaborating closely with our Technical Product Owners, you’ll have an important role in driving the evolution of front-end development across a diverse range of digital products. This position will place you at the forefront of our work on William Reed’s innovative Digital Experience Platform (DXP), Arc XP, where you’ll help craft cutting-edge front-end solutions. We are looking for a dedicated mid-level front-end developer to contribute to the creation of 100 dynamic, complex websites while also taking an active role in advancing development processes and best practices. The Front-End Developer will participate in technical meetings, oversee front-end workflows, and maintain thorough documentation to ensure clarity and consistency across all development efforts. What you’ll be doing: Taking a prominent role in front-end development within an international B2B business, working on technology platforms such as Arc XP, William Reed’s new DXP platform to produce, managing and maintaining React components. Overseeing the translation of design mock-ups into high-quality code, utilising HTML5, CSS3/SASS, and JavaScript while strictly adhering to Core Web Vitals standards. Helping to guide peers during development cycles, ensuring that high-quality standards are both met and maintained. Participating in technical discussions as appropriate, championing best practices and processes for front-end development. Developing, testing, and optimising front-end code across various devices and platforms, taking full responsibility for the front-end code created. Collaborating closely with the heads of the Design & UX teams and Technical Product Owners to uphold front-end standards. Documenting all technical processes, methodologies, and code effectively to maintain clarity for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ensuring that any development work is continuously committed to the relevant code repositories owned by William Reed. Requirements What you’ll need: Proven experience in front-end development for multiple projects and providing guidance or documentation for other team members. Strong experience theming across multiple platforms, translating design documents into fully functional code using HTML5, CSS3/SASS, and JavaScript. Demonstrable experience with JavaScript frameworks, particularly React. Solid understanding of Core Web Vitals and how to optimise for performance & accessibility, contributing to overall user experience. Experience in version control systems such as Bitbucket, documentation tools such as Confluence, project management tools such as Jira and GUI Git Clients such as SourceTree. Clear ability to communicate complex development concepts to both technical and non-technical teams. Expertise in using tools like Adobe Suite and Figma to ensure accurate design-to-code translation. Ability to work in a dynamic responsive environment with cross-functional teams including project managers, designers, and testers to deadlines. Desirable: Experience with animation libraries such as GSAP or Locomotive Scroll.
