Exhall Grange is a 4-19 school which provides a nurturing environment and meets the needs of children and young people with: • Social, Communication and Interaction difficulties including Autism • Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs • Physical difficulties • Sensory impairment • Complex medical needs Many of our children and young people are physically or emotionally extremely vulnerable or have life limiting conditions. Some of our pupils are highly anxious and require our calm, predictable and nurturing environment in order to access school. All pupils follow the National Curriculum at a level appropriate to their ability and needs. We are destination driven and focus on developing the skills our pupils need for independence, employment and life. This is as important to us as the academic and vocational curriculum. We are seeking to appoint a Primary teacher from January 2025. The successful applicant will be working as part of a small, friendly department of the school, where our pupils are valued and in which they thrive. Our nurturing environment is incredibly important to us and we work with pupils and staff to develop and enhance their wellbeing. We pride ourselves on providing excellent support for all our pupils. The successful candidate should have experience working with children with a variety of special needs including speech and language difficulties and communication difficulties. We have lots of fantastic facilities for our children. Our grounds include a large field, a primary playground, large EYFS outside areas, grassed and astro-turfed playing spaces, access to two large hall spaces and a forest school area. Inside we have a sensory room and soft play area and spacious classrooms. We believe in enhancing our curriculum with events and activities, including impact days and external visits. Our ideal candidate will have: • A passion for teaching and learning and a sound subject knowledge, that can be utilised to challenge all pupils. • The ability to motivate, inspire and stimulate curiosity, interest and enjoyment across all aspects of the primary curriculum. • The ability to be an excellent classroom practitioner with creative teaching skills. • High expectations of all pupils. • Up to date knowledge. • Good team skills. • Experience of teaching pupils with special educational needs. • We would welcome applications from ECTs.
