We have exciting new positions for two permanent Band 6 Children's Speech and Language Therapists to join our friendly, innovative Complex Needs team in Oldham.
Working as part of an integrated team, you will expand your skillset, experience working with children with a range of complex needs across preschool settings and special schools and make a big difference to our children, young people and families. You will mostly work with children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder but also with other complex presentations. You will have the opportunity to work with a multilingual population alongside interpreters and bilingual co-workers and work with families, schools, preschools and professionals providing high-quality care for children and families.
We are looking for an excellent communicator who is motivated and enthusiastic with highly developed clinical skills and a passion for delivering high quality care at the heart of the community.
We offer excellent training opportunities and robust supervision and support for staff to progress in their clinical specialism. We have a detailed induction programme and as part of the NCA Staff Wellbeing initiative.
You must hold a relevant undergraduate or masters degree in Speech & Language Therapy and be registered to practice with HCPC.

Main duties of the job
You will:
1. Enthusiastically provide a speech and language service to children across Oldham.
2. Assess, diagnose, develop, and implement speech and language therapy packages of care.
3. Work in a multi-disciplinary team to ensure a co-ordinated care plan, based on best practice/evidence.
4. Organise and manage a caseload with support from your manager, with opportunities to shadow colleagues and attend specific pathway meetings.
5. Work with children and young people with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs including ASC, SEMH and other complex presentations.
6. Demonstrate clinical effectiveness using evidence-based practice and outcome measures.
7. Provide clinical advice to parents/carers, school staff and other professionals regarding the management and care of children with communication difficulties.
8. Work alongside education, local authority and early years partners, supporting a graduated approach to helping children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
9. Build skills in the wider workforce which will have positive intervention outcomes.

clinical
1. Relevant experience at undergraduate/post graduate level.
2. Qualified and registered speech and language therapist.
3. Implementation of evidence-based interventions.
4. Experience of assessment for a wide range of children's speech, language and communication needs.
5. Health Professions Council – Licence to Practice.
6. Recognised Speech & Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent.
7. Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses.
8. Experience of writing and delivering training packages.
9. Experience of supporting/leading other members of staff and students.
10. Relevant experience of managing caseload independently.
11. Demonstrates good skills in negotiation and managing conflict.
12. Registered Member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapist.
13. Relevant Band 6 experience.
