Who You Are You are an experienced LGV Technician with substantial knowledge in motor vehicle technology, focusing on cars, light goods vehicles, municipal vehicles, and parks equipment. Your expertise spans practical experience in hydraulic, welding, and electrical repairs, supported by diagnostic skills essential for the repair and maintenance of varied vehicles and equipment. You possess a flexible approach, capable of adapting to changing work environments and shift patterns to meet customer needs. Your ability to work under/on vehicles at varying heights and in confined spaces, along with using computer systems to record work and check vehicles’ history, defines your technical competence. You thrive in a team environment, offering a collaborative spirit essential for this role. Ideally, you are a qualified VOSA MOT tester and hold a City and Guilds qualification in motor vehicle maintenance or equivalent, along with an LGV class C driving license. What the Job Involves This role involves the service, repair, and maintenance of various vehicles, plant, and equipment under legislative and health and safety requirements. You will undertake vehicle testing per VOSA regulations and ensure all maintenance work adheres to high-quality standards. Responsibilities include managing service schedules, diagnosing faults, and handling general fleet electrical work, welding, and minor repairs. You will liaise with suppliers to maintain stock levels effectively and provide roadside assistance when necessary. In addition, you'll conduct risk assessments and safety inspections, ensuring compliance with legislative standards. You are accountable for statutory vehicle testing, handling public interactions, and advising on equipment condition. Your role involves maintaining workshop cleanliness and safety, providing technical guidance to new staff, apprentices, and students, and supporting internal and external relationships with a focus on health and safety, information security, and equality and diversity.
