When it comes to health and safety for our colleagues and customers, it’s a number one priority for us here at Yorkshire Housing. We’re on the lookout for someone to help support our fantastic Health and Safety team in making sure that everything runs smoothly. You’ll be handling various admin tasks, helping put safety best practices in place, and looking for ways to improve. If you’re passionate about safety and want to make a difference, keep reading to find out more.
We believe work is something you do, not somewhere you go so if you want to work for a company who are truly flexible and where you are valued then this could be the role for you!
What we’re all about
You can probably already tell that we’re not your typical housing provider! With around 20,000 homes (and more in the pipeline), we’re on track with our growth plan to build 8,000 new homes across Yorkshire.
We’re dedicated to creating exceptional customer experiences along the way and are on a mission to build a culture that prioritises excellence, innovation, and customer obsession.
What will you be doing?
As our Health and Safety Administrator, you’ll have the chance to get involved in some of the team’s key projects, such as managing the delivery of our lone worker systems and solutions, supporting and completing workplace health and safety inspections, and providing advice and carrying out DSE assessments for both office and home workers. You’ll also support fire wardens and first aiders, making sure everything runs smoothly and safely.
With excellent interpersonal and organisation skills you’ll be offering basic advice and guidance to managers and colleagues on health and safety matters, as well as managing health and safety portals and databases such as accident/incident management, risk assessment, contractor control, and lone worker platforms. You'll also be coaching managers and colleagues on how to use these platforms effectively.
Additionally, the role requires producing quality health and safety reports and dashboards, taking meeting minutes, and compiling action logs. Monitoring key health and safety performance indicators, particularly training completion and delivery, is also part of the role, ensuring that Yorkshire Housing meets its legal, moral, and financial obligations.
The role is predominantly home-based, but we would love to see you in our Leeds City Centre Hub a couple of days a week on average. There may also be times when we’ll need you to travel to some of our other workspaces across Yorkshire for meetings or team catch ups. Any travel expenses incurred will be reimbursed.
Who are we looking for?
The answer is simple - if you are hardworking, driven and ready for a new challenge, we want to hear from you. You’ll have a keen interest in Health and Safety, with strong organisation and analysis skills. You’ll work with teams across Yorkshire Housing and with external customers to ensure we meet our health and safety obligations so being a confident communicator is a must.

* Experience in using Microsoft Office packages at an intermediate level.
* Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to act fast and make great decisions for the benefit of the customer experience.
* Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure, deliver to strict deadlines and manage conflicting priorities.
* An understanding of and/or experience of health and safety protocols and legislation.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across a range of communication methods to build and maintain effective working relationships.
