As Archivist, you will take responsibility for the operational management and delivery of the university’s archive service, contributing to and delivering against the Library’s Content and Digital Services operational plan. You will utilise specialist knowledge to implement and maintain archival standards, ensuring records are transferred, accessioned, preserved, discoverable and accessible for the purposes of teaching, research and institutional administration.
This is a part-time position of 18.5 hours per week with the following working pattern: Mon/Tues: 9am-2pm (5 hours) Wed: 9.00am-1.30pm (4.5 hours) Thurs: 9am-1pm (4 hours)

Key Responsibilities
* Develop and manage operational support for the University’s archive service, delivering against operational plans and placing strong focus on continuous improvement.
* Manage the receipt and accession of university archives, developing, maintaining, and enhancing workflows to support this.
* Appraise items donated or deposited to ensure they align with the university’s collection framework.
* Catalogue the university archives, in line with international standards, working to facilitate discovery through development and publishing of web-based catalogue records.
* Ensure the secure storage and safe use of the university archives is maintained at all times.
* Manage a responsive enquiry service, providing specialist advice to queries relating to the university’s archives.
* Provide a reading room service that enables students and researchers to view and work with the University's archive material.
* Promote the university archives as assets to be utilised for the benefit of learning, teaching, research and the university’s civic commitments.
* Maintain current awareness and knowledge of archive services, procedures, standards and legislative requirements.
* Build positive and effective relationships with colleagues across the University, donors and depositors.
* Capture, collate, analyse and report data in respect of the university archive.
* Work collaboratively across the university and with donors to explore, assess and instigate the deposit of records within the university archive.
* Develop and maintain relationships with local and sector bodies.
* Actively participate as a member of working groups across the Library and the wider University.
* Contribute towards the development and implementation of operational plans associated with archives.
* Take operational responsibility for the recruitment and line management of any project workers and volunteers.
* Actively promote and support inclusion through operational activities undertaken through the role.
* Undertake continuous personal and professional development in support of the role.
* Be flexible with working pattern and in working at different University sites.
* Ensure compliance with relevant University policies and procedures.
Experience
* Experience of managing and delivering user-focussed services with an emphasis on continuous quality improvement.
* Experience of working with archive collections, including work with born-digital and digitised materials.
* Experience working with archive cataloguing and metadata schema (such as ISAD(G)).
* Experience of building positive relationships and working collaboratively.
* Experience of managing and delivering successful projects in a professional context.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
* Current knowledge of archival management principles, standards and best practice.
* Knowledge and experience of how digital systems can be used to facilitate management of archives.
* Knowledge of the legislation that underpins archive work.
* Evidence of high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Ability to resolve unexpected issues, escalating where required.
* Ability to plan, prioritise and organise work and people to achieve objectives on time.
* Confident in approaching new technologies and flexible approach to change.

Qualifications
* Postgraduate or additional relevant professional qualification.
* Membership of relevant professional bodies.
