Our client, a forward-thinking local authority, is seeking an experienced Highway Development Control Engineer to join their team, in lieu of a restructure.
This short-term role is ideal for a professional looking to apply their expertise with planning applications, and development control to deliver sustainable and effective transport solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Review and assess planning applications for highway and transport impacts, ensuring alignment with statutory requirements and local policies.
2. Provide technical advice on S278, S38, and S106 agreements, negotiating with developers and stakeholders as needed.
3. Design and implement highway and transport solutions for development proposals, including feasibility studies and detailed designs.
4. Liaise with planning teams, developers, and contractors to resolve technical challenges and deliver effective solutions.
5. Prepare technical reports, planning recommendations, and consultation documents for various stakeholders.
6. Ensure developments meet highway safety standards and contribute to sustainable transport goals.
Ideal Candidate Profile
1. Strong background in highway development control, transport planning, or a related field.
2. In-depth knowledge of highway design standards, transport policies, and relevant legislation (e.g., S278, S38, and S106 agreements).
3. Proficiency in CAD software and other relevant IT systems for design and analysis.
4. Excellent communication skills with experience in engaging with developers, Councillors, and the public.
5. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver within tight deadlines.
What's on Offer
1. Hourly rate of £40 - 44/hr (Outside IR35)
