Our client is a leading manufacturer of precision parts for the aerospace industry. They are looking to add a skilled Fabricator Welder to their team on a permanent basis. This would be a great fit for a meticulous individual who enjoys challenge and variety in their day-to-day work.

Fabricator Welder

3 shift pattern – Monday - Friday
Key Responsibilities
1. Carry out repairs and fabrication works to a high level, responding quickly and efficiently to plant breakdowns.
2. Assist with the successful introduction of new/modified parts, equipment, and tooling.
3. Set up the Sub Arc welding machine, including aligning and adjusting the machine.
4. Use the machine to carry out weld repairs as specified by blueprints, layouts, welding procedures, and operating charts.
5. Select the correct voltage and power of the machine.
6. Visually examine welds for adherence to specifications.
7. Adjust machine setup according to varying size, location, and penetration of bead.
8. Weld materials such as Titanium, Stainless Steel, Mild Steel, Inconel, and High Carbon content steels.
9. Preheat surfaces using a hand torch or heating furnaces.
10. Record work progress on a computer.
11. Burning/Lancing experience.
12. Fabricate as required.
13. Develop efficient working processes and seek ways to continuously improve all aspects of your job.
14. Apply problem-solving skills related to manufacture and continually improve processes.
15. Participate in continuous improvement activities such as Lean manufacturing techniques, T.P.M, Asset Care, and 6’s.
16. Identify own training needs with your team leader and assist with training others if competent and designated as a trainer.
17. Undertake additional training within the work area in line with company needs.
Education / Experience
1. Time served Welder with experience of Sub Arc Welding techniques.
2. Proven track record of fabricating works to a high standard.
3. Ability to interpret work instructions, drawings, and schematic drawings.
4. Computer literate.
5. Able to work at heights and in enclosed spaces.
6. Prior industry/production experience would be beneficial.
7. Knowledge and application of safe working practices.
8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Working Hours
Week 1: 6am – 2pm
Week 2: 2pm – 10pm
Week 3: 10pm – 6am
Fridays are slightly different:
Week 1: 6am – 12:20pm
Week 2: 12:20 – 6:40pm
Week 3: 6:40pm – 1am
