We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and dedicated Teacher of Psychology to join our collaborative and flourishing department. Our ideal candidate will be a specialist in Psychology, who can teach excellent dynamic lessons, incorporating a wide range of ICT within their skill set. The ability to teach Psychology to GCSE and A Level is essential. Psychology is a very popular subject at A Level and more hours may be available to the right candidate. We also welcome applicants that may be able to offer additional periods in a second subject.
The successful candidate will:
1. be able to teach Psychology to GCSE and A Level
2. plan and teach challenging and differentiated lessons which enable high levels of progress
3. make a contribution to and follow the department’s curriculum, in line with the broader ethos of the school
4. maintain discipline in lessons to ensure that learning can take place
5. use a diverse range of teaching strategies and ICT to engage students and to deepen understanding
6. mark students’ assessments, giving constructive feedback to aid improved performance, and monitor their progress
7. work alongside colleagues and students in mentoring and intervention sessions
8. use relevant student data to help pupils to achieve their full potential
9. communicate regularly with the Head of Department about pupil performance and achievement
10. make an active contribution to the co-curricular life of the school
Person Specification:
1. well-qualified graduate, with a specialism in Psychology
2. hold, or be working towards, a Postgraduate Certificate of Education or equivalent teaching qualification in secondary education
3. passionate about the academic rigour of their specialist subject and all that it entails
4. committed to diversity and representation in teaching and learning
5. a genuine team-player; resilient and blessed with a sense of humour
6. ability to see the bigger picture and work accordingly
7. positive and enthusiastic in approach
8. excellent oral and written communication skills
9. effective ICT skills
10. commitment to support the Head of Department and the team
11. willing to be involved in the pastoral life of the school and act in the role of Form Tutor
12. commitment to the wider ethos of the school and a willingness to contribute to enrichment activities
