Job description
As the Structural and Bridges Principal Engineer you will be responsible for:
1. Assist our clients in the conceptual design definition, helping in technical feasibility and constructability.
2. Lead a team for the design process.
3. Ensure appropriate coordination with the rest of the disciplines, requesting inputs and providing results to others in timely manner.
4. Present the alternatives, and the design to the contractor and the client.
5. Review technical documentation and identify critical defects.
6. Provide guidance to modellers for the BIM model and drawing production.
7. Conduct periodic site reviews to ensure construction complies with design intent and codes
8. Develop structural details and construction plans
9. Review shop drawings and field services in design and construction
Qualifications:
10. Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
11. Master's degree in Structural Engineering is an asset
12. Minimum 15 years relevant experience in structural design and infrastructure (highways, rail, etc) projects
13. Experience with complex construction projects involving P3, Infrastructure and/or underground LRT and subway
14. Expertise in reinforced concrete structures
15. Expertise designing bridges and performing loading calculations (SAP, Midas)
16. Desirable knowledge of pre-stress concrete and precast construction
17. Desirable knowledge of steel structure
18. Desirable knowledge of underground structures, geostructures (Support of Excavation, walls, invert slabs, cut-and-cover structures)
19. Technical competency in the design of structural building systems
20. Knowledge and understanding of structural design software such as SAP2000 and Robot Structural Analysis is expected
21. Experience with Microsoft Office, Navisworks, Bluebeam desirable
22. Knowledge and understanding of relevant design standards and codes
23. project management and coordination skills with a strong ability to provide leadership and motivation to project structural teams. You will work in a multi-disciplined team environment and will be expected to demonstrate a collaborative attitude in working with members of the Team
24. Ability to confidently relate with all levels of staff and clientele - Internal and External
25. Effective communication in English. Spanish desirable.
