Legal Support Team Lead Location: Guildford, Surrey Salary: up to £35,000 Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent We are currently working with a well-established regional law firm based in Guildford, who are looking to appoint a Legal Support Team Lead within their Commercial Dispute Resolution team. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with strong legal secretarial experience, a passion for mentoring and supervising others, and the ability to manage a busy, fast-paced team. As the Legal Support Team Lead, you will play a key role in supporting up to 8 fee earners, while overseeing and guiding a team of junior secretaries. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the team, fostering a positive working environment, and assisting in the development of junior staff through mentorship and leadership. Key Responsibilities: Fee Earner Support: Provide high-level secretarial and administrative support to up to 8 fee earners within the Commercial Dispute Resolution team, managing diaries, preparing legal documents, and ensuring effective client communication. Team Leadership & Supervision: Lead and supervise a team of junior secretaries, allocating tasks, monitoring workloads, and providing day-to-day support and guidance. Mentoring & Development: Mentor junior team members, helping them to develop professionally by providing training, coaching, and feedback. Performance & Salary Reviews: Conduct performance reviews and salary reviews for secretaries, offering constructive feedback and identifying areas for professional growth. Work Allocation: Ensure the effective and timely allocation of work within the team, prioritising tasks to meet deadlines and client expectations. Process Improvement: Collaborate with senior management to streamline processes, identify efficiencies, and improve the overall workflow within the team. Key Requirements: Legal Secretarial Experience: Strong background as a legal secretary, ideally gained within a commercial or litigation environment (experience in commercial dispute resolution is a plus but not essential). Supervisory or Team Leader Experience: Prior experience in a supervisory or team leader role is highly desirable. You will be comfortable managing people, providing guidance, and fostering a collaborative team culture. Organisational & Time Management Skills: Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritising effectively in a busy and fast-paced environment. Leadership & Communication Skills: A proactive leader with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of mentoring junior team members and liaising with senior fee earners.
