We are currently looking for reliable and highly motivated individual to skipper our site support vessel the Mowi Storr. The vessel will provide valuable service to our seawater sites at Caol Mor, on the Isle of Skye. The role is challenging, but ultimately very rewarding and can lead to a variety of fulfilling career progression opportunities.
The Mowi Storr is one of the newest additions to our fleet. She is an 18m long and 8m wide landing craft, with a HS Marine crane and twin Doosan engines.
If you are ambitious, motivated, and want to work with a like-minded team, then this is the role for you. This post is offered on a full time permanent basis. The successful candidate will be required to work on a two week on / two week off shift rotation. Candidates should be available to stay onboard the vessel if required.
About the job
The role is a crucial support for our operations team and ensures that the best management of our salmon is undertaken. We need our Skippers to strive for continuous improvement and deliver on all aspects of the role to ensure the team are on track and performing well. The job includes, but it not limited to:
* Maintaining the vessel to a high standard, ensuring full compliance at all times to workboat code and certification
* Work closely with the Farm Management to provide the most efficient service to the site
* Farm maintenance and general upkeep
* Co-ordinating treatments and leading harvest or fish transfer operations
* Managing the maintenance of engines, machinery and equipment on board the vessel
* Ensuring bio-security records are kept up-to-date
* Improving on site health and safety management systems and practices
* Other general farm duties
Ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will have experience within the aquaculture industry or other sea based roles. They should be willing to go the extra mile to ensure their vessel and site is one of the best. They will always be willing to learn and develop their understanding of aquaculture. The successful candidate will have:
* Appropriate certification for operating vessels up to 24 meters, both day and night
* RYA Commercial Endorsement or STCW certification
* IOSH Managing Safely Certification
* ML5 or ENG1 medical
* Work flexibly to meet the demands of the job
* Positive approach to this type of work
* Drivers licence is essential.
