We’re looking for an Indirect Tax Accountant to support the management of VAT and IPT processes. This role will give you exposure to senior stakeholders across Finance, Tax, and external bodies like HMRC. You’ll ensure compliance with tax regulations, improve processes, and be a key point of contact for financial control and finance systems teams. What You’ll Be Doing As an Indirect Tax Accountant, you’ll be responsible for: Preparing and reviewing quarterly VAT and IPT returns, ensuring timely filing and payment. Posting VAT and IPT journals, reconciling tax accounts, and reviewing transactions for compliance. Ensuring accuracy of tax data recorded in finance systems and the general ledger. Reviewing overseas transactions to ensure compliance with international tax requirements. Supporting the offshore Shared Service Centre (SSC) in India, reviewing reconciliations and addressing queries. Monitoring compliance with Making Tax Digital (MTD) legislation across the group. Reviewing invoicing and posting rules in ERP systems to ensure correct VAT/IPT treatment. Delivering training and advisory support to business units on indirect tax matters. Our hybrid model offers a 'best of both worlds' approach. When you'll be in the office depends on your role and team, but colleagues spend at least 2 days a week in the office What You'll Need: We need someone with strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach. You should have: Professional qualification (CTA or ACA, or equivalent). Indirect tax experience, ideally within financial services. Solid technical knowledge of UK VAT/IPT, with awareness of direct taxes. Experience working with tax authorities and external advisors. An understanding of finance systems, controls, and reconciliations. The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
