The Head of Information Governance and Policy will manage all activity relating to the implementation of and compliance with UK Data Protection legislation, they will be the registered Data Protection Officer. The postholder will manage a small team of Information Governance Officers and work with children services colleagues and partners to ensure that Achieving for Children effectively manages and protects the information of the children, young people and families it works with. They will also commission the writing and coordination of corporate policies to make sure that they are accurate, current and meaningful. The Head of Information Governance and Policy oversee data breach investigations, implementing IG training, advising on data protection policy, information security, communicating with the customers, managing IG complaints. They will prepare reports for the public, internal management groups and council commissioners. They will liaise with the Information Commissioner’s office and London wide IG groups. About the role We are looking to recruit a special Information Governance individual to work within Children’s Services in Achieving for Children. The role of Head of Information Governance and Policy will oversee the safe and secure management of information of the children, young people and families working with Achieving for Children. You will provide leadership to a small team of Information Governance Officers as well as strategic guidance and advice to the organisation on information governance legislation, acting as the Data Protection Officer. You will be an Information Governance specialist, perhaps looking for a more hands on role, and preferably experience of working in children’s or health services. You will be passionate about customer service and championing the rights of our children, young people and families. About you The Head of Information Governance and Policy will have wide experience of information governance knowledge and legislation and preferably experience of working in a children’s or health environment. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to comfortably deal with situations which require legislation to be upheld. You will be able to work well under pressure and independently. You will be an excellent manager and provide leadership and strategic guidance to the information governance team, wider colleagues and broader organisation. The postholder will have good IT skills and understand how information is reported, collected and utilised. You will also understand how information can be protected.
