* This post will link across our Paediatric Specialty Inpatient and Outpatient areas, covering a 1 in 8 rolling rota.
* To provide a service that is tailored to meet the needs of the individual and to understand what our patients need and be adaptable and responsive in this.

Working for our organisation
Louisa Cary Ward is a 22-bed paediatric ward, including 3 Paediatric HDU beds and a 6-bedded adolescent area. The Short Stay Paediatric Assessment Unit is open Monday to Friday 9.00-21.00 for the assessment of acutely unwell children referred in by GPs or from the Emergency Department.
There is a Special Care Baby Unit which forms part of the South West Peninsula Neonatal Network. Neonatal resuscitation, stabilisation, and intensive care are provided prior to retrieval of very premature and sick infants by the Peninsula Retrieval Team.
Outpatient facilities include 4 clinic rooms, hosting extensive specialist clinics supported by visiting tertiary specialists. The John Parkes Unit Child Development Centre provides means for multidisciplinary assessment and management of children with developmental impairment.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
All Post Graduate doctors have responsibility for the management of acute paediatric admissions to the wards and day-to-day running of the wards with the support of the attending Consultant of the Week (COW). They will also assist the wider hospital team by covering the Short Stay Assessment Unit (SSPAU) with the on-call consultant (PAC).
