Financial Controller - Weston-Super-Mare - £: Excellent
Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to have been re-engaged by a past client, a highly successful multi-site services business, who seek to recruit an experienced Financial Controller to join their sizeable accounting team as the 3ic. This is a full time, permanent opportunity to be principally based in Weston but with an element of travel required throughout the Southwest.
The incoming Financial Controller will assume an important role within the business, reporting to the CFO and Finance Director, but ultimately taking lead responsibility for the day-to-day operational and reporting finance function, as well as managing a team of colleagues located across the company’s business sites. Key responsibilities to include:
- Assume lead responsibility for the management of transactional finance teams
- The production of high quality management accounts and reports with accompanying commentary
- Act as a key point of contact to external stakeholders and major suppliers
- Regularly liaise with department heads both inside and outside of finance, leading and influence on key financial controls
- Deputise for FD during periods of absence
- Lead and develop your own team to ensure CPD goals are achieved
- Design, implementation and development of finance streamlining initiative, processes and reporting tools
- Play a key role in a variety of ongoing business projects
- Production of cashflow and KPI forecasts
- Monthly production of consolidation accounts
- Oversea balance sheet reconciliations and maintenance
- Assist in the preparation of statutory accounts, liaising with external and internal auditors
Think you’ve got what it takes? We’re looking for an exceptionally well trained and experienced FC that possesses A1 technical experience as well sound commercial judgement. You’ll be taking a lead role in ensuring the efficient financial controls across multiple entities and with multiple income streams. We’re seeking a candidate who feels as comfortable with management reporting as they do statutory accounting, leading audits, budgeting, forecasting and benchmarking. A professionally qualified individual (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), you’ll need a solid background in the preparation of financial and management reports, up to date knowledge of accounting standards and budgetary controls. You’ll be a natural leader with past experience in managing your own team, developing their skills and mentoring their progress. Your skills in identifying potential improvements and leading finance projects will be demonstrable and your experience of using technology in previous roles will be obvious. Most importantly, you’ll possess the ability to recognise the values and cultures of a growing business and hit the ground running within a friendly and likeminded team environment.
