Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Marine Engineer to support a fleet of small commercial craft. The primary focus of the role is to ensure high levels of availability and reliability of the craft through routine maintenance and defect repair. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing timely, quality service to our client.
Key Responsibilities
1. Perform scheduled maintenance and repair work on small commercial craft.
2. Diagnose and repair defects in inboard propulsion systems, fuel systems, and hydraulic systems.
3. Troubleshoot and carry out maintenance on small craft electrical and electronic systems.
4. Ensure that all repairs and maintenance tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
5. Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and repairs performed.
6. Work without direct supervision, managing time and resources effectively.
Skills and Experience Required
1. Technical Expertise:
Proven experience working on small craft, including inboard propulsion systems, fuel, and hydraulic systems. A solid understanding of electrical and electronic systems on small craft.
2. Organisational Skills:
Ability to manage maintenance schedules and repair tasks efficiently. Strong attention to detail and record-keeping.
3. Physical Fitness:
The role involves physical work and may require lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
4. Self-motivation and Independence:
Able to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
1. Relevant qualifications in Marine Engineering or a similar field are highly desirable.
2. Previous experience in maintaining and repairing small commercial craft.
3. Familiarity with health and safety protocols relevant to marine engineering.
