This role is centred around delivering specialised projects and outcomes, which will evolve regularly. It is not an operational support role – every project will present unique challenges, ensuring variety and ongoing professional development.
Innovation is at the core of what we do, so you will be working with cutting-edge VMware technologies alongside Microsoft Azure VMware Solution, leveraging both open-source and proprietary tools.
Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Your role
As a VMware architect within Capgemini’s dynamic cloud platform team, you will play a key role in delivering innovative cloud and infrastructure solutions. Your responsibilities will include:
* Migrating Workloads to Cloud – Working as part of a specialist team to migrate application workloads to Microsoft Azure VMware Solution (AVS) or other public cloud platforms, ensuring seamless integration and performance.
* Platform Modernisation – Assisting clients in modernising their infrastructure by transitioning from legacy VMware environments to scalable and cost-effective Azure AVS solutions.
* Public Cloud Deployment – Collaborating with DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams, providing deep expertise in VMware technologies and Microsoft Azure for optimised deployment, automation, and orchestration.
* Optimising VMware Platforms – Enhancing resilience, availability, monitoring, automation, and security across Azure AVS, on-premises VMware environments, and hybrid cloud solutions using both native cloud tools and third-party technologies.

So, what kind of skills and qualities are we looking for?
* Deep VMware expertise, particularly in VMware Aria Suite, VMware Cloud Foundation, VMware vSphere, and VMware vSAN. Strong understanding of VMware networking and security, with hands-on experience in VMware NSX-T for software-defined networking and security implementation.
* Extensive experience with VMware migration technologies, including VMware HCX for hybrid cloud migrations, as well as physical-to-virtual (P2V) and virtual-to-virtual (V2V) migration strategies.
* Microsoft Azure expertise, particularly with Azure VMware Solution (AVS) and the integration of VMware workloads into Azure cloud environments. Experience in hybrid and multi-cloud infrastructure, with knowledge of AWS and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) in addition to Azure.
* Strong automation and scripting skills, with hands-on experience using PowerShell and Terraform to automate infrastructure deployment, configuration, and management. Understanding of DevOps methodologies, with experience working in agile squads and utilising CI/CD automation for infrastructure deployment.
* Comprehensive knowledge of infrastructure technologies, including compute, storage, networking, and security, with a focus on software-defined data centre (SDDC) architectures. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team, engage with clients, document solutions clearly, and present ideas professionally.
Your security clearance
To be successfully appointed to this role, it is a requirement to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance. To obtain SC clearance, the successful applicant must have resided continuously within the United Kingdom for the last 5 years, along with other criteria and requirements.
