Locum Practitioner Psychologist
In Brief
For this post, we would like to welcome applications from suitably qualified and HCPC-registered Practitioner Psychologists. The primary function of this role to deliver single-session consultations for adults, mental health consultations for children and parents, and brief courses of solution-focused therapy. Caseload allocation would be based on service demand, we aim to provide variety and flexibility within the role.
You will receive client referrals via our online easy-to-use customer relationship management (CRM) system and via email from our mental health administrative team. With the support of both our clinical and operations team you will have the flexibility of working the hours that are convenient to you and get paid for every session delivered.
Contract type: Affiliate / Locum
Hourly rate: £80ph
Hours of work: Flexible, especially evening and weekend availability desired
Location: Remote, Working from home
What You’ll Do
This is a non-extensive list of duties and responsibilities. As the service develops these might change and/or expand.
* Provide video-delivered and phone-delivered psychotherapy.
* Deliver a variety of therapeutic modalities and demonstrable flexibility in tailoring these to the needs of the patient within brief therapy.
* Work with individuals, families, and relational systems.
* Collaborate with other professionals within the team, holding a compassionate understanding of patients, and being able to relay their struggles with respect and care.
* To engage in regular clinical supervision in line with BPS Guidelines.
* To manage and assess risk, as well as liaise and signpost to appropriate services.
What We're Looking For
Key Skills & Experience
* Confident in maintaining clinical quality, safety and service continuity within governance standards
* To be self-motivated, to have highly developed verbal and written communication skills, and high standards of record keeping.
* To support service development.
* Experience delivering brief and remote psychological therapies
* Skilled in developing service policies and procedures
* Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office
* Background in EAP and/or IAPT services
* Able to work autonomously within HCPC and BPS guidelines
* Proficient in case formulation and risk assessment across the lifespan
* Comfortable delivering therapy via phone or video, with an understanding of its benefits and limitations
* Culturally sensitive, with experience working affirmatively with gender and sexually diverse communities
* Collaborative, compassionate team player with respectful communication skills
Behaviours & Knowledge
* Great communicator and team collaborator
* Strong problem-solver, well-organised and able to manage clinical workload
* Up-to-date with developments in psychology, counselling and psychotherapy
* Good understanding of mental health, safeguarding, and risk management in digital care
* Familiar with the stepped care model and confidentiality in digital settings
* Confident using Outlook 365 and similar tools
