An opportunity has arisen to join the Sexual Health services as a Sexual Health nurse working across Northumbria NHS Trust. We wish to appoint a Sexual Health Nurse to work delivering Integrated Sexual Health Services including contraception provision and STI screening to patients aged 13 years and over. We will provide our staff with training opportunities to enhance their skills, knowledge and career progression within the Sexual Health service, while providing high quality and safe service in line with the Trust Values.
The post is permanent mainly working across the service within the hours of 08:30 to 19:30 Monday to Friday.

• Provide integrated sexual health to patients aged 13 and upwards from a diverse range of cultural and social backgrounds.
• Work in an unsupervised role and be able to make clinical decisions /assessments following completion of in-house training and competency-based assessments. The post holder will be supported to undertake recognised sexual health qualifications and training.
• Provide evidence-based advice to patients and other healthcare professionals
• Work collaboratively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of clinical sessions across the geography of Northumberland and North Tyneside.
• Contribute to the implementation of current and future national, local and service specific projects and standards.
• Work within trust guidelines.

• Promote and effectively use all methods of communication.
• Demonstrate excellent personal communication. Establish and maintain effective two-way communication channels with individuals and groups.
• Responsible for ensuring own clinical practice complies with data protection/Confidentiality/Fraser guidelines and Caldicott principles.
• Convey complex information effectively to patients and staff often in potential crisis situations.
• Participate in the assessment of factors which might negatively affect patient’s sexual health and refer or signpost to more appropriate services as necessary.
• Provide a non-judgmental, sensitive approach at all times with a solid understanding of equality and diversity issues.
• Actively contribute to supervision, individual and peer-group and to appraisal process.
• Must be able to demonstrate the English language proficiency level required for this post.
