We are looking to complete our Head of Service, Emergency Medical Service (EMS) team by appointing a candidate to our south Central territory which incorporates Swansea Bay and Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board areas. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Operations, EMS you will be the area's key point of contact for our external stakeholders, whilst providing leadership to our Service manager for effective delivery. Using your previous operational emergency service or health care experience, you will translate operational strategy to local delivery plans. Your profile shall be raised further as a consequence of acting in this role of Strategic Commander for the organisation. This function requires your commitment to working an on-call roster. Main duties of the job
The Head of Service will be expected to interpret and apply organisational policies and national guidelines to support the delivery of and lead an excellent and efficient service that meets the expectations of the public and commissioner. The post-holder will be accountable for an operational service and will be required to autonomously manage that service within the portfolio of responsibility, ensuring key objectives and performance targets are met. They will also be required to undertake Gold/Strategic Commander duties as part of an on-call rota.
The post-holder will be responsible for supporting ongoing service improvement and development which will include the implementation of operational business plans within their service to support the Trust’s Integrated Medium-Term Plan (IMTP), subsequently translating them into operational activity.
The post-holder will have responsibility for providing leadership and direction to managers within their portfolio as well as providing visible leadership across the Trust. They will be responsible for providing direct line management to their Service Manager(s).
The post-holder will be required to deputise for their Assistant Director of Operations as and when required, inclusive of attending meetings on their behalf.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge
* Masters level qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent experience working at a senior level in a service delivery environment.
* Leadership and/or Management Qualification Level 5 or equivalent.
* Required to successfully complete the Gold/Strategic qualification post-appointment.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Registered Nurse or Paramedic.
