Plymouth Yacht Club is currently hiring both Sailing Instructors to join our experienced, 12-person instructor team from June 16- Aug 17th. The program owns a fleet of 40+ sailboats and 7 coach boats, and operates off of the PYC docks. Our classes take place in the Junior Program boathouse in TV & WiFi enabled spaces using the latest US Sailing curriculum videos and lessons. The program enrolls 150+ sailors over an 8-week period, teaching all levels and ages. Our emphasis is on seamanship, safety, skill progression and FUN as our sailors choose their path forward into racing or cruising.
You can expect flexible hours, commuting incentives and excellent pay rates. Hourly rates start at $17/hr for 1st year instructors up to $21/hr for those with over 2 years of experience. Qualified candidates may also earn $75 per lesson for teaching Adult Lessons in our Adult Sailing program.

Sailing Instructor Responsibilities. Pay range $17-22/hr
* Provide sailing instruction and mentoring of students.
* Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, including enforcing safety rules.
* Maintain and care for all sailing equipment, coach boats and program facilities.
* Properly rig and de-rig equipment, and follow reporting procedures for all issues.
* Act as a role-model for assistant coaches, promoting professionalism.
* Report to Program Director for job responsibilities; Club Manager for employee issues.
Qualifications:
Coaches & Instructors must hold a valid US Sailing Level 1 or higher, plus NASBLA and SafeSport certification. Have familiarity with the boats in our fleet: Power: 18’ Brigs, 18’ Boston Whalers. Sail: Prams, Optis, Club 420s & RS Quests. Additional factors that can increase pay rate:
* The number of years you have coached / taught.
* Strong and demonstrated dinghy racing experience, particularly in 420’s.
* Current or former collegiate sailing and/or high school racing.
