We are currently looking for a part-time Accounts Assistant to support the Financial Controller with a variety of accounting operations including purchase and sales ledger, payroll and VAT. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on process and control, with high attention to detail along with sound technical and IT skills. They should be familiar with and comfortable in a small, busy office environment.
Experience – essential
1. At least one year’s accounting experience
2. Payroll processing
3. Experience of VAT reporting and compliance
4. Good working knowledge of Excel and Xero (or similar finance software)
Desirable attributes
1. Professional accountancy qualification, such as AAT
2. Experience of working within golf or hospitality environment
3. Knowledge of GDPR principles and compliance
Main responsibilities
1. Maintaining sales and purchase ledgers, processing transactions from order through to settlement
2. Daily banking and income processing from multiple sources
3. Reconciliations – bank, cash, credit cards, members cards
4. Maintenance of records to facilitate mutual and non-mutual tax computations
5. Processing of weekly and monthly payrolls
6. Recording VAT elements of income and expenditure
7. Completion of VAT returns including partial exemption calculations
8. Support Financial Controller with preparation of monthly management accounts, annual budget forecasts and annual audit.
