Job overview
Job Purpose
Post holder must work two shifts Minimum a week.
To work as part of the Children’s Community Nursing Team, providing nursing care primarily within a child’s home, school and nursery, ensuring the delivery of evidenced based care to children and their families or carers.
The post holder will be responsible for:
1. Participating in the assessment, planning and provision of skilled nursing care in negotiation with the child and family.
2. Providing skilled, effective, evidenced based nursing care for children with complex care needs including technology dependent such as tracheostomy care and central venous access.
3. Providing skilled, effective, evidenced based nursing care for children with a variety of nursing needs, such as enteral feeding, and intra-venous antibiotic administration.
4. Working in a collaborative manner with other agencies to ensure a seamless delivery of care to families.
5. Providing information and support to facilitate the child’s and family’s own choices with regards to nursing care.

2. Promoting Health Education as an integrated aspect of care delivery.
3. Ensuring safe handling of body fluids and contaminated sharps in personal practice.
4. Working as an autonomous and lone practitioner with the support of CCN Team Leads.
COMMUNICATION
1. Maintaining accurate records and statistical returns as required by the Trust, including entering data on the electronic record keeping systems.
2. Participating in team and Trust meetings.
3. Taking appropriate action in regard to any accident or incident to a child, family member, staff member or visitor.
4. Being aware of CLCH Community Trust’s policies and acting accordingly.
MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP
1. Facilitating and encouraging a learning environment and being actively involved in meeting the educational needs of learners.
2. Being responsible for the care of equipment issued to a home/school and reporting any defect or loss.
3. Participating in Safeguarding procedures.
4. Establishing and maintaining good relationships with Acute services, Social Services and other agencies.
5. Actively participating in the orientation and development of new staff to the community.

Both verbal and written communication skills, and experience of team working will be essential to the role. Strong interpersonal skills will also be essential. You must be an NMC registered, UK based nurse to apply for this role, as it is 'zero-hours' it does not attract visa sponsorship. You must also have at least 6 months acute experience.
Person specification
Education/Qualification
* Evidence of post registration study / learning over the past two years.
* Numeracy skills required for the safe administration of medicines.
* Teaching Qualification.
Experience
* Recent experience of at least 1 year of working as a registered children’s nurse in a community nursing role.
* Recent experience within an acute/community setting.
* Evidence of involvement in the management of difficult situations and conflict resolution.
* Evidence of working without direct supervision and managing own workload.
* Managing a safeguarding caseload.
