We are looking for a highly motivated, autonomous individual to assist in the delivery of high quality nursing care to patients in HMP Standford Hill in support of a registered nurse. Is able to work unsupervised for significant periods. To undertake an extended role e.g. patient focused health promotion activities and programmes.
HMP Standford Hill is a category D open prison. Opening hours are 08.00 – 16.30 Monday to Friday and 08.00 – 12.00 on weekends. We are a Primary Care service with no in-patient facilities. The prison is seen as an individual community where you will work with a variety of people and provide urgent care, routine health screens like a GP practice and complex needs care to the patients.
Responsible to manage the following clinics: phlebotomy, wound care, NHS Checks, smoking cessation, foot care, vaccination clinics, ECG’s, hypertension and weight management.
To organise and run health promotion programmes, activities and events, empowering people to make positive choices by providing information and education.
To work autonomously supporting the registered nurse.
Providing physical care to patients according to a written care plan.
Being an effective communicator, observer and listener.
Understanding the need for and maintaining patient confidentiality and security at all times.
Adhering to all organisational and prison policies, procedures and guidelines.
Ensuring good working relationships with patients, carers, relatives, other professionals and prison and healthcare staff.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION, PLEASE READ:
All applicants must be willing to undertake National Security Vetting in order to work in a Prison Setting. This will be completed as part of the pre-employment checks through Oxleas and the prison vetting team.

5 years address history will be needed.
Applicants that are not UK Passport holders who provide less than 5 years UK address history will need to provide a Police Certificate which must be in English from where they resided previously.
Applicants who are UK Passport holders who have lived abroad for a period of more than six months during the last three years will need to provide a certificate of good conduct or an overseas police check in English from the countries resided in or visited.
