The Role
Salary up to £57,175 plus Essential Car User Allowance up to £963 per annum
Bolton Council is seeking to appoint a Principal Social Worker for Children’s Services. As PSW you will have lead responsibility for driving forward continual improvement and evaluating the effectiveness of our arrangements to safeguard children and adults. You will provide challenge and support to practitioners, managers and elected members to ensure optimum conditions for high quality practice and service delivery. You will manage and contribute to practice learning arrangements for the children’s workforce, ensuring learning opportunities are maximised. You will manage and oversee practice development and have a key role in developing and implementing the quality assurance framework. You will provide advice and guidance to other professionals and promote the value of the social work role within integrated teams.
In our recent Ofsted inspection for Childrens Services in September 2023, Ofsted agreed that Bolton deliver good services to children and families. You will contribute to building on this achievement and success.
About You
We are looking to recruit to the Bolton Family an outstanding individual who is committed to providing a first class service to children, young people and their families. Candidates must have excellent frontline practice skills; a minimum of five years post qualification practice in a social work team with three of these years being in a management position. The successful person will have the ability to analyse complex information and use this to support improvement in practice; be a positive communicator who can collaborate, influence and challenge with excellent verbal and written skills. Additionally, they will have the ability to shape and deliver workforce development. We are looking for someone who is deeply committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable children and will go the extra mile to make this happen.
You will have substantial knowledge of the legislation and statutory responsibilities that underpin Children's Social Care, including appropriate performance indicators and quality standards.
