To be responsible for the physical care, safety, health & wellbeing of our children/young people. This will involve supporting the service user with personal care, as detailed in the care plan/risk assessment. To support children/young people fully with their life choices, including activities in the community, this will involve sports, swimming, walking, independent living and a range of activities that will consist of physical participation. To provide individual advocate support as necessary, promoting and empowering the child/young persons choice, inclusion and decision making. To always promote and respect the privacy and dignity of the child/young person To maintain the confidentiality and respect the views of the child/young person. To liaise with other agencies, parents and carers, supporting the child/young person to advocate their views, at their request, using communication methods that encourage the independence of the child/young person. Codes of confidentiality cannot be promised if the risk to a child/young person is evident and safeguarding procedures are instigated. To work as a team member providing needs project and community activities, that are recreational, vocational, educational and person centred. To project a positive image of people with learning difficulties, challenging behaviours or other disabilities. To promote equality and diversity, equal opportunities and respect cultures and values. To attend staff team planning meetings monthly and provide an adequate handover at end/beginning of shift. To complete risk assessments, daily logs, accident & incident reports, medication forms, audits, daily weekly checklist and to a detailed high standard. To attend child/young person reviews as and when required. To attend and participate in staff training To assist and ensure effective administrative, financial and record systems are maintained. To adhere to vehicle checks and transport duties as and when required, reporting and defects with immediate effect. To adhere to hygiene procedures, including cooking and cleaning to maintain safety Notification of any needs, problems or defects. All staff are accountable and responsible for the health & safety of the child/young person, equipment, buildings, vehicles and the reporting of incidents that may lead to a potential risk. Preventative measures are proactively encouraged. To ensure all Consistent Quality Support policies and procedures are understood and complied with a 6 monthly refresher is encouraged.
