Role Overview As Welfare Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our students while they are on site. This includes managing illness, homesickness, and monitoring student attendance during lessons and activities. You will lead and support a team of House Supervisors and staff assigned to welfare duties, working closely with the Centre Manager, Activity Managers, and Director of Studies. Your role will also involve liaising with external clients such as Group Leaders, educational agents, and parents, while providing emotional support to students throughout their stay. You will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and supportive environment for young learners. Camp Locations & Dates Oxford : 2nd July – 13th August 2025, International House Oxford, St Edward’s School Tavistock : 9th July – 20th August, International House Tavistock, Mount Kelly School (12-17 year olds) Payment £780 per week including holiday pay. Normal working hours are up to 48 hours per week, typically spread over a 6-day week, with 1 full day off per week. Contract 1–6 weeks, depending on location. Key Responsibilities • Welfare Team Management: Supervise and support House Supervisors, providing guidance, feedback, and conducting performance appraisals at the end of the summer. • Student Welfare: Ensure students receive emotional and practical support during their stay, managing sickness, homesickness, and any concerns. Administer medicine as required and ensure the safety of all students. • Communication: Liaise with staff, Group Leaders, parents, and external clients, providing updates on student welfare and responding to any concerns. • Facilities Coordination: Work with host centre staff to ensure accommodation is ready for arrivals, resolve any issues, and manage room inspections for damages. • Operational Coordination: Assist with transfers, liaise with the Centre Administrator regarding room preparation, and ensure the welfare team is ready for new arrivals. • Safeguarding: Maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment, staying vigilant and reporting any concerns following safeguarding protocols. Essential Requirements • Educated to GCSE standard (5 A-C grades, including English and Maths) or equivalent • Proficient English speaker • IT literate with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel • Excellent understanding of children’s welfare • Previous experience in residential/pastoral duties • Experience managing people or teams • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines • Strong interpersonal, time management, and organisational skills Desirable: • Pastoral or psychology qualification, counselling experience • Safeguarding qualification • Experience working with mixed-nationality students • Experience in boarding school settings What We Offer Free Meals & Refreshments: Enjoy 3 delicious meals a day, with access to tea, coffee, and snacks throughout your shift.
