Contents Location About the job Benefits Things you need to know Apply and further information Location Hereford About the job Job summary Working in the busy Secure Media Cell (SMC) the Secure Media Accountant (SMA) is responsible for the daily management and whole-life accounting for all Magnetic Media (MM) and Electronic Devices (EDs) within the group (deployed and static), in accordance with the JSP440. The SMA plays a critical role in ensuring the right people, have the right equipment, in the right place at the right time, while maintaining the highest of security standards. This is an interesting and rewarding role, with continuous self-development and learning being part of the everyday. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. Job description The successful candidate will work alongside a small team of SMAs and report to the Secure Media Manager, and in their absence, the Secure Media Officer. The SMA will ensure that all MM, EDs and associated equipment issued from, or returned to, the SMC are checked for accuracy and issued/returned with the correct paperwork. Ensuring that all MM and ED information is captured correctly and timeously. Updating databases and clerical records of all MM and EDs daily. The SMC is responsible for supporting the mustering of MM and EDs and participate in/oversee the secure destruction of MM and EDs, alongside the other SMAs. There is a physical aspect to the SMA role, with the manual handling of equipment being a part of the day-to-day requirements of the position, alongside prolonged periods of computer/desk-based work. The SMA will work as part of a diverse workforce, welcoming colleagues and visitors to the SMC and responding to queries and requests politely, while maintaining a security focused approached. The SMA role is varied and evolves with business needs, responsibilities may change but will remain in line with responsibility level of the AO grade. The role will require: An IT literate professional, proficient in the use Microsoft Office packages, such as Excel and Word. The ability to learn other bespoke database packages.
