Cafe Supervisor (Maternity Cover – 12 Months)

This vision is stronger than ever, and at the heart of our operations is our coffee roasting workshop in Chichester, which now includes a cosy, bustling café. We’re passionate about creating exceptional coffee experiences, and we’re looking for a Café Supervisor to help us continue that legacy while covering a maternity leave for the next 12 months.
Role Overview: As our Café Supervisor, you’ll be the face of Cast Iron Coffee Roasters’ café, creating a memorable experience for every guest that walks through our doors. You will embody our values, offering not only fantastic coffee but also exceptional service that encourages guests to return. You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the café, managing everything from inventory and staff to customer service and quality control.
Responsibilities:
1. Food & Drink Preparation and Quality Control: Prepare and serve all food and drinks to the highest possible standards. Maintain strict quality control measures to ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and overall customer satisfaction. Work closely with suppliers to maintain a consistently high level of product knowledge. Collaborate with the Operations & Quality Control Manager to develop and refine the food menu offering.
2. Café Management: Manage a team of café staff, ensuring clear communication and a positive work environment. Create weekly staff rotas, ensuring adequate coverage and considering individual availability while balancing the needs of the café. Drive sales and look for innovative ways to diversify our offerings while staying true to the Cast Iron Coffee brand. Create and maintain a welcoming and aesthetically pleasing café environment that reflects our commitment to quality. Inventory management and ordering stock. Ensure all hygiene and health & safety standards are met and maintained.
3. Hospitality and Customer Experience: Provide a friendly, personalised experience for each guest, ensuring their time at Cast Iron Coffee is memorable. Engage with customers, sharing your extensive knowledge of our coffee offerings, our roasting process, and the history of Cast Iron Coffee. Address customer inquiries, feedback, and concerns professionally and promptly, always aiming to exceed expectations.
Requirements:
1. Proven coffee experience with a focus on quality and precision.
2. Previous experience in café supervisory roles, including managing staff and inventory.
3. Outstanding customer service, people, and communication skills.
4. A strong passion for coffee and a genuine interest in sharing that knowledge with others.
5. Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and maintain composure during busy periods.
6. Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness and organisation.
