About the Role
We are looking to recruit an Assistant Tutor who will work closely with the Learning Centre staff to ensure that learners within a prison learning environment receive high-quality support and that individual needs and requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities
1. Responsible for the various education induction sessions which cover administering and marking screening tools, promotion of learning opportunities, and taster sessions.
2. Carry out supportive interviews with potential learners and complete Personal Development Plans (PDP) in order to agree goals, learning targets, and outcomes. Record information onto PR2.
3. Complete Personal Development Support Plan (PDSP), where appropriate, and input all information into PR2 and Fife College REMS.
4. Conduct reviews of PDPs and PDSPs in accordance with the contract.
5. In conjunction with the Area Manager and Learning Centre Staff, support projects (e.g., family learning initiatives in collaboration with SPS).
6. Proactively encourage and motivate learners and act as a mentor/facilitator for less confident learners.

Qualifications and Experience
1. Minimum SVQ Level 3 / HNC or equivalent (SCQF Level 7) in a relevant field.
2. Qualification in SALL (Supporting Adult Literacy Learners) SCQF Level 6 or other community-based learning qualification, or willing to work towards.
3. Knowledge of Microsoft databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.
4. Understanding and experience of working with literacy learners.
5. Experience of working with learners with learning difficulties and disabilities.
6. Qualification in Learner Support or ESOL.
7. Facilitating project-based learning in a group setting.
8. Understanding the prison context.

Training
As this position is based within a prison setting, the successful candidate(s) will be required to complete mandatory in-house SPS Training, which includes classroom work as well as scenario-based physical movements for self-defense purposes.
