Role and Objectives: As a Business Analyst on the Consolidated Exposure project, your primary objective is to facilitate the design and implementation of a comprehensive system that consolidates trade lifecycle events, delivering near real-time exposure and position data across multiple commodities. This role requires close collaboration with senior stakeholders to ensure the solution aligns with the company's risk management framework and business objectives. Your expertise will be pivotal in translating complex business requirements into actionable technical specifications, managing stakeholder expectations, and ensuring the successful delivery of a tool that enhances the company's risk assessment and decision-making capabilities. Duties and responsibilities: Project Collaboration and Scoping: o Work closely with stakeholders across Front Office, Risk Management, and IT to define and document the scope and design of the exposure engine. o Lead workshops to gather requirements, understand trade lifecycle events, and align expectations with business needs. Requirements Management: o Elicit, analyse, and document detailed business and functional requirements for consolidating exposures across multiple commodities and trade types. o Translate complex business needs into actionable specifications for the development team. Stakeholder Engagement: o Serve as a trusted partner to senior-level stakeholders, providing regular updates on project progress, risks, and challenges. o Manage competing priorities and stakeholder expectations to ensure project deliverables align with strategic goals. Exposure Tool Design: o Contribute to the design of a real-time exposure and position monitoring tool, ensuring scalability, accuracy, and alignment with the company's risk management framework. o Collaborate with technical teams to integrate trade lifecycle events into the consolidated exposure engine. Testing and Validation: o Support the creation of testing strategies, including test cases and validation criteria, to ensure the tool meets business requirements. o Conduct data reconciliation and validation exercises to ensure the accuracy of exposure and position calculations. Skills: Risk Management Expertise: o Strong understanding of risk methodologies, exposure calculation, and risk mitigation strategies within energy trading environments. o Familiarity with consolidated exposure engines and trade lifecycle events. Front Office Acumen: o Comprehensive knowledge of front-office operations, including trading strategies, pricing models, and decision-making processes. o Ability to liaise effectively with traders, risk managers, and other senior stakeholders. Cross-Commodity Understanding: o Experience in multi-commodity trading environments, including gas, power, emissions, and related derivatives. o Knowledge of how commodity markets interact and impact exposure and positions. Stakeholder Management: o Proven ability to engage and influence senior-level stakeholders with deep industry knowledge. o Strong facilitation skills to balance diverse stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment with project objectives. Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: o Exceptional ability to analyse complex data, interpret results, and provide actionable insights. o Capacity to translate technical challenges into business-oriented solutions. Communication & Interpersonal Skills: o Clear and concise communication style, both written and verbal. o Ability to adapt communication approaches to diverse audiences, from technical teams to executive stakeholders. Project Delivery Experience: o Experience in scoping, designing, and delivering technology-enabled business solutions. o Familiarity with agile delivery methodologies and iterative development cycles. Technology Proficiency: o Hands-on experience with energy trading and risk management systems (e.g., ION Endur or similar). o Knowledge of data integration, real-time processing, and system architecture related to exposure tools Experience: Exposure to documenting business processes (as-is and to-be) Experience working with business colleagues and providing constructive input to requirements. Familiarity with functional specification and configuration of commercial software packages, or custom-developed software Exposure to at least three aspects of the full deal lifecycle, such as Trading Entry, Valuation & Risk Management, Confirmations, Nominations/Industry Interfaces, Operations/Logistics, Invoicing & Settlements, and Market Data Feeds and Curve Management Education: Degree (or equivalent ideally in a numerate subject or computing related subject Professional certifications in relevant skill areas are advantageous.
