St John’s College School is looking for a Director of Finance as soon as possible to join and assist in the leadership of its support staff. Reporting to the Head and Governors, and working closely with the Director of Operations, the Director of Finance will be responsible for the finances of the School as well as oversee Human Resources.
The successful candidate will possess excellent numeracy and organisational skills, strengths in working in a small team, a methodical approach and a proactive nature. Specific experience in finance and accounting is essential and knowledge and experience of HR is desirable. Candidates will be expected to manage a small team, have the ability to manage their own workload, demonstrate a high level of IT competence and knowledge of systems to support their areas of responsibility and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the aims and ethos of the School and support the Head in these vital areas of the School’s operation.
The Director of Finance will work 34 weeks (term time) and an additional 8 weeks outside of term time, according to the needs of the School and as agreed with the Head.
The annual starting salary for this post will be between £80,000 - £90,000 per annum, depending on skills and competencies, paid in monthly instalments in arrears. Long-listed candidates will be invited for a preliminary interview. Short-listed candidates will be invited to return to complete skills tests. References will be taken up for candidates who are able to demonstrate the required skill level. These candidates will then be invited to return for the final interview procedure, which will involve tours of the school, meetings with various members of staff, a safer recruitment interview and the final interview itself.
All reasonable interview expenses will be reimbursed by the School.
The selected candidate will be expected to undergo, at the School’s expense, a medical examination prior to confirmation of appointment.
