A Personal Assistant is required for a lady in her early 50s with Huntingdon’s Disease and Multiple Sclerosis to support her in the home and in the local community. This lady has limited mobility and requires aids when walking, i.e., with a frame within the home and uses a wheelchair out of the home. She has some speech and cognitive issues and requires support and assistance with personal care.
The Personal Assistant is required for 8 hours on a Thursday. Duties will include care in the home, some light domestic duties, i.e., meal preparation, cleaning up after meals, and making sure areas are clean, tidy, and safe around the person. Medication is to be given throughout the day and to ensure it is being taken. Taking her out on short trips to cafes, garden centres, and shops is also required.
The preferred candidate will be someone with experience dealing with a person with a severe disability and degenerative diseases. They will need to be kind and patient, as this lady can be very sensitive to people who come across as “bossy”.
A genuine occupational requirement for a female worker exists for this post under the Equality Act 2010 due to privacy and decency.
DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post – cost to be met by the local authority.
