Group Employment Legal Counsel - South Yorkshire
Hybrid working – 3 days in office, 2 days from home

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Employment Lawyer to join an in-house legal team at a leading UK retail company. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing expert legal advice on a wide range of employment matters, collaborating closely with the People and Employee Relations teams to navigate complex legal landscapes and support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide expert legal advice on various employment matters, including contracts, disciplinaries, grievances, family leave, redundancy, discrimination, and whistleblowing.
* Work with the Employee Relations team to manage cases, ensuring effective resolution of workplace issues.
* Draft and review employment contracts, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and best practices.
* Develop and update employment policies and procedures to align with legal obligations and company values.
* Manage Employment Tribunal claims from start to finish, including advocacy at preliminary hearings where appropriate.
* Deliver training to the People team on employment law topics to ensure continued compliance and knowledge.
* Advise on large-scale projects with employment law implications, including major consultations and restructures.
* Keep the business informed of developments in employment law, providing timely updates on legislative changes.
Ideal Candidate:
* A qualified solicitor with at least 2 years' post-qualification experience (PQE) in employment law.
* Strong expertise in employment law, with excellent research, drafting, and analytical skills.
* A confident communicator who can simplify complex legal concepts into clear, practical advice.
* A commercially-minded professional capable of balancing legal risk with business priorities.
* Able to build strong working relationships across all levels of the business.
* Proactive, organised, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
* Previous in-house experience is desirable but not essential.
