We are looking for a Pollution Investigation Technician to join Thames Water permanently.
The Environmental Protection Team is responsible for the delivery of the Surface Water Outfall Programme and investigation of polluted surface water outfalls suffering from widespread urban diffuse sources, mostly third-party misconnections.
Field Based with possible base locations at Maple Lodge, Mogden, and Beckton.
The role will predominantly be during office hours with some flexible working out of hours and at weekends where required.
What will you be doing as a Pollution Investigation Technician?
* Identify and trace pollution in affected catchments, narrowing down areas and sub-catchments to street and property levels using lift and look tracing, caging, CCTV, and sampling.
* Carry out property surveys at domestic and commercial properties to check connections using dye and CCTV and identify misconnections or other pollution sources.
* Complete a survey sheet detailing the issue for the customer to rectify.
* Follow-up visits to check rectifications, assist customers in finding solutions, and diagnose pollution at outfalls. Support network regions with reactive tracing where required and STW catchment investigations.
* Install missing surface water rodding eye caps in private drains, requiring confined space entry and light civils work.
What should you bring to the role?
* Full UK Driving Licence for daily travel to locations for assigned project work and customer properties.
* Competent at using appropriate IT systems, GIS, and O365 software.
* Some knowledge of drainage and sewerage systems is desirable.
